March 9th, 1500 he embarked from the River Tagus below Lisbon on his voyage of exploration with 13 ships and
1500 men.
The voyage of exploration to the. Indies lasted 11 months. The expedition route traveled as follows--->

He sailed south westerly towards the new world. April 23, 1500 he landed on the coast of Brazil, April 25, 1500 the crew sailed into Porto Seguro Harbor, Then he went back to the Indies "The cape of good hope".

After 3 weeks at sea, four ships sank during a storm. The rest of the fleet was separated and spread throughout the cape area. On September 13, 1500, Cabral set up a trading post, but hostile muslims attacked it and killed 50 men who were posted there.

Traded spices, furs, gems, pearls, diamonds and porcelain. He wanted to be the first European to discover Brazil and establish a successful sea trade route to India.

The final achievement of Pedro Alvares Cabral was being the first European to discover Brazil. He also established a successful sea route to India and was a leader in commercial expedition there.
