WIAA DIVISION 1 STATE MEET

WAUKESHA – Victor Kostov won’t be looking back.

The Bay Port senior finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.47 seconds Saturday at Waukesha South High School.

“I felt pretty good throughout the race and I had confidence my training and the taper I had,” Kostov said. “It was pretty intense from the start. I had to try to have a good lead so I could have a strong finish, so I wouldn’t have to make up any ground if I was way too behind.

"I just had to stay in autopilot just to let my body do the work and not think too much and to finish strong and knowing that if I gave it my all, that I wouldn’t have anything to complain about.”

Kostov also placed sixth in the 100 backstroke in 51.15 seconds.
