Journey Overview

This delightful journey begins with the bus making its way out of Ilkley, past the Ilkley Manor House on the right, with its tree-lined surroundings and the enchanted Riverside Gardens behind which backs onto the River Wharfe.

The bus traverses green pastures close to the River as the countryside landscape of fields, bracken and heather envelops the views from the bus, the further Ilkley is left behind as the bus heads northwards. Through the pretty village of Addingham, the journey unfolds further into beautiful, rural, moorland serenity and the expansive Chelker Reservoir on the right, surrounded by farmland with sheep grazing. At the base of the valley the journey intensifies and stopping at the remote village of Draughton, the trip then continues, with more rugged scenery on the left as Skipton approaches – the bus twisting leftwards, through dense woodland briefly, then close to the Thanet Canal before nestling into Skipton Bus Station with a range of chain stores and independent retailers a few yards away.

In Ilkley, customers can start their exploration with a stroll along the famous Ilkley Moor, where they can marvel at the Bronze Age rock carvings known as the “Ilkley Moor Baht ‘at.” Nature enthusiasts will also appreciate the stunning vistas of the Wharfe Valley from atop the moor. Afterwards, they can visit the historic Ilkley Manor House, dating back to the 14th century, which now houses a museum showcasing the town’s rich heritage.
