Wearing your own face on any article of clothing is both a swerve and a very bad idea. That is, unless your name is Samuel L. Jackson. In that case, you can wear whatever the fuck you want (his words, we assume), and that includes disregarding any style rule we've ever laid out.

Over the weekend, cinema's most quotable actor revealed himself to be the owner of an impressive collection of Samuel L. Jackson shirts, which he showed off on Instagram. There's the obligatory Pulp Fiction shirt (in retina-searing safety orange, no less), which features cartoon versions of him and John Travolta. "Today’s mood. Might have to cap a muphukaa today, channeling Jules, attitude just right!! #makeupchairmusings #feelingCaptainMarvelousa #Nicksortafurious," he wrote in the caption. Of course, Jackson is also the owner of a Shaft shirt, which the award-winning actor paired with some grooming wisdom and a mantra: "Morning mood! What a difference a goatee makes! Attitude is everything!! #NickFury #CaptainMarvel #ShaftfacevsFuryface." The pièce de résistance of his T-shirt collection is a selfie immortalized via oil painting, then screen-printed on a black tee. "Early morning makeup chair mood! The things I get at junkets," he didn't really explain at all. "The interviewer biting my selfie style & going the next mile!"

Like Frank Ocean and Ryan Gosling, Jackson has a thing for graphic, statement-making T-shirts that he's also flexed on Instagram. " 'Yes, he's a racist' - Me, 2017" was a memorable fit. As was the epic Captain America interview in which Jackson sported a T-shirt that read, "I'm Not Laurence Fishburne."

We're never not here for a good graphic T-shirt, but if that graphic is of your own visage, you better have near-GOAT-level status to back it up. Which is why Samuel L. Jackson can rock his entire collection of portrait-printed tees but you probably shouldn't.
