Actor Guy Pearce has played Warhol, so clearly he can give a good Interview. We grabbed him on the Cannes red carpet last night to talk tus, and why he's always running to the bathroom.
GQ: What did you wear to the red carpet?
Guy Pearce: I had a Christian Dior tudo on and a beautiful Armani shirt that I bought the other day. They were all my own stuff, actually. Although, no, I did wear a Dolce & Gabbana bow tie that they gave me.
GQ: I was expecting the cast to be more extravagant or outrageous, but I felt like you all had a very classic look: black suits, black bow tie, and everything.
Guy Pearce: Funnily enough, I was going to wear an ordinary tie. I was just going to wear a black tie. My wife said "don't wear a bow tie, just wear a tie. That's so much better. Just wear a tie." I turn up last night and was talking to someone and they said, "They changed the rules. You have to wear a bow tie now." I went, "All right, I'll wear a bow tie then." So I put a bow tie on, and I go downstairs and there's Nick and John with ordinary ties on! The funny thing is, I looked at the photos and it's actually kind of cool for Nick and John, because they're the creators of this thing and there are all the actors looking like we work for those guys. In a way, I quite liked it.
GQ: What gets you through the festival? Do you drink a lot of water?
Guy Pearce: Hydrate, yeah. I had a fucking kidney stone last year. Excruciating.
GQ: Ouch. Did that work out all right?
Guy Pearce: Yeah, eventually. Jesus! It's the reason why I'm dashing to the loo a hundred times a day.
