Mandy Moore just expanded her family by one new furry member!

In a new post uploaded on Instagram, the This Is Us alum announced she, husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and their sons, Gus and Ozzie, adopted a brand-new dog named Marshmallow. As she shared a photo of the family's latest addition for all her followers to see, Mandy revealed the heartwarming story of how they rescued the animal.

"Welcome to the family, Marshmallow!" she affectionately wrote on January 20. "This sweet boy was found wandering the streets for several days, many miles from here by our beloved nanny, Celina. He’s about 6-7 months, unchipped, not fixed (but scheduled for next week) and just the most unexpectedly wonderful addition to our gang."

But that wasn't all Mandy had to say about how Marshmallow became a member of the Goldsmith clan. As the Dr. Death star later explained, the pet looked just like her late dog Joni (who died back in 202o), leading her to think it was a sign to bring him home.

"We weren’t looking for another dog but he was looking for us," she continued. "The fact that he looks remarkably like our dear Joni made it too impossible to ignore. The cats are nonplussed and Jackson (our 14-year-old shepherd mutt rescue) is also a little 🤷‍♀️ but Marshmallow is slowly winning them over. When we showed Gus a picture of him and asked what his name was, without hesitation, he shouted 'Marshmallow!' with his arms in the air. Done and done. Can’t wait for all of the adventures, sir!!"

When fans saw that Mandy posted a heartfelt announcement online, it didn't take long for folks to congratulate her on the new pup.

"Lucky dog … lucky family. Rescues are the best!" one person wrote on Instagram. "Welcome to your best life, Marshmallow ❤️," another declared. "Everyone in your house just won the lottery," a different follower added.

Congrats, all and we can't wait to see more moments with Marshmallow soon!
