Psalm 81

  1. Psalm 81 -:-- / -:--

Sing out for joy! Do not relent!
Shout praise to Jacob’s God – he is our strength.
Strike up the harp, play on the lyre.
Sound the ram’s horn for the feast of our God.

When we were still in bondage our God decreed
that we should praise him, praise him ceaselessly.
Make great his name, play on the lyre!
Sound the ram’s horn and summon praise.

Sing out for joy! Do not relent!
Shout praise to Jacob’s God – he is our strength.
Strike up the harp, play on the lyre.
Sound the ram’s horn for the feast of our God.

“Then listen to the word of the Lord!
See now if you will recognise your maker’s voice.
In all your praising, open your hearts;
do not be hardened – hear now his word!

Who took the load off your bruised back?
In your affliction I came to your aid.
In your distress I heard your cry;
loosed and delivered you; I made you mine.

Listen to me. O listen now my people!
You shall have no God’s apart from me.
You shall not give your heart to any other god.

I called you out; my mighty hand
freed you from bondage and gave you this land.
Open your hearts and I will shower
blessings upon you for I have all power.”

Glory to God, Father and Son,
and to the Spirit, three in one.
Give him your life, give him your praise –
all things come from him, the Ancient of Days.
