Like many in my generation, I first discovered the greatness that is Lucy Liu via the 2000 Charlie's Angels movie. Who could deny her prowess as the Yakuza leader O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill or Dr. Joan Watson to Jonny Lee Miller's Sherlock Holmes in Elementary? Whenever I think of Lucy Liu, in addition to associating her with these projects, I think of her long black silky hair. But as of this week, that style is long gone and has been replaced with a blunt bob.

On May 23, the Shazam! Fury of the Gods villain was spotted with her new short haircut in New York City at the “Unzipped: An Autopsy Of American Inequality” screening. The blunt tips of her long, straight, jet-black hair typically fell towards her waist area, but with this new cut not an inch of hair even grazed her shoulders. Her short hair was styled simply with a side part that was only slightly off-center. It also appears that her ends might have been lightly curled inward as well for more body.

She paired her new haircut with fairly minimal makeup. A pink hue coated the apples of her cheeks and lips. It appears that she might have also added a tiny amount of black liner on her lids.

I'm a big fan of bobs, and I know I'm not alone. In fact, here at Allure, we even asked ourselves and some experts what is it that fascinates us about a celebrity getting a bob. “No two bobs are ever the same, so it always looks new. The bob is about freedom and taking charge,” New York City-based hairstylist Stephen Thevenot previously shared with Allure. I have a good feeling Liu would agree.
