Yavia cryptocarpa f. crestata

Yavia cryptocarpa is a tiny-size cactus. It has a slightly twisted fan-shaped stem; a tuberous root and little visible thorns. The areoles, when cultivated, are hairy and whitish. The plant, during drought periods, tends to shrink up to the level of the soil in order to be able to keep the humidity; on the contrary, in cultivation with an adequate humidity, it shows a more elongated shape. Its crested shape gives the plant a great value because it is very rare and sought after by collectors. The flowers of Yavia are born small buds on the shades of yellow and lime,blooming in late spring, and then they turn into pink flowers.
