2018 is going to be an amazing year for Marvel fans. Black Panther was a massive success and a brilliant film. Avengers: Infinity War lands in just a few weeks. And now we have a release date for Insomniac's Spider-Man video game.

The game, from the creators of the Ratchet and Clank and Sunset Overdrive, will land on September 7th, exclusively on PlayStation 4. It's the first licensed game from the storied developer.

The news comes thanks to the May issue of Game Informer, which features Spidey on the cover.

Here's the latest trailer:

I think the game looks phenomenal. Instead of retreading the origin story of Peter Parker, you play as a more confident superhero already adept at web-slinging and fighting bad guys.

Gamers will play as both a 23 year-old Parker and his love interest Mary Jane. Miles Morales (the New Spider-Man) will also be in the game.

Spider-Man will cross webs with Martin Li aka Mister Negative in the game. In the comics, Li runs a soup kitchen in Chinatown and by all appearances is a wealthy philanthropist. His alter ego is pretty much the complete opposite. Mister Negative is a Chinatown crime boss in charge of the Inner Demons. He's a pretty fascinating villain, actually, and it should be interesting to see him come alive in the game.

An early September release makes sense, especially given the fact that we have a handful of other PS4 exclusives landing before then. This gets Spider-Man out right on the cusp of the busy holiday seasons, and should give it room to breathe before big releases like Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

I'm pretty excited about this game. It's easily one of my most-anticipated titles of 2018. What about you? Is this a game you're looking forward to? Let me know on Twitter and Facebook. And don't forget to subscribe to my blog! Thanks for reading!
