Pylon Racing, Hot-Air Balloons Included in New Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

The simulation program, arriving next year, features aircraft designed to allow the player to sample various aviation careers

If you have ever wanted to pylon race or fly a fire tanker or airship, Microsoft Flight Simulator can help you accomplish this, at least virtually. These aircraft and many more are featured in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Attendees of Xbox Games Showcase saw a preview of the game during the event. The 2-minute, 15-second video begins with the slogan “pursue your dream career in aviation” and closes with “the sky is calling.”

The flight simulation program, arriving next year, features aircraft designed to allow the player to sample various aviation careers. For example, you can see what it is like to fly a helicopter and be part of a search and rescue operation, fly cargo to and from an offshore drilling platform, and even partake in aerial construction.

If airplanes are more your thing, you can try wildland firefighting, crop dusting, VIP charter operations, air ambulance transport, pylon racing, and glider flying. If lighter-than-air is something you’ve always wanted to try, there is a chance to fly an airship and go on hot-air balloon tours.

For the players who want an out-of-this-world experience, Microsoft has announced the existing version of the game is getting a Dune expansion, complete with spacecraft from the movie, on November 3.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be available on Xbox Series S/X and PC in 2024. The price varies from $60 to $200, depending on equipment and options.
