The Tillandsia usneoides is also known as the beard-Tillandsia and forms a series of long plants that continue to grow as the environment permits. This Tillandsia is mainly found in tropical and subtropical America. Here, it grows on tree branches, but also on the electricity wires and telephone poles. Sometimes these even collapse due to the weight of the Tillandsias. The Tillandsia is very decorative and is often used as a decoration with other Tillandsias or other attributes. Water and nutrients are taken up from the air through the scales on the leaves. Therefore Tillandsias are also called air plants.
Care
These air plants are ideal for people without green fingers. It is a very easy houseplant to take care of. The most important thing is that you give the plant little water. You do not have to put these plants in the ground, because they live of air humidity. When you want to place the air plants in your living room or office, you only have to water them once in a while. In damp spaces such as a bathroom or kitchen, Tillandsia grows by itself. With a little love and moist air you will bring a beautiful piece of nature into your home.
