Patrick Juvet dead: Eurovision and I Love America star dies at home aged 70

PATRICK JUVET, who competed in the Eurovision Song Contest, has reportedly died at the age of 70.

Patrick Juvet, who rose to fame in the disco era, was found dead at his apartment in Barcelona by his manager 22 years, Yann Ydoux. The Swiss model and singer represented Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 1973.

The cause of his death is not yet known and his manager confirmed an autopsy will be carried out.

Juvet resided in Paris, but occasionally travelled to Barcelona and Switzerland.

The former disco star was best known for interpreting hit songs such as Where are the Women, Lady Night and Solitudes.

The singer appeared in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1973 with the song “Je vais me marier, Marie” and finished in 12th place.

In 1977, his song Where are the Women became a huge hit across Europe.

Juvet later went on to have on to further international success with the disco songs Got A Feeling and I Love America.

Tributes have poured in for the singer and model following the sad news on social media.

One person wrote: "Another one who has joined the stars. RIP."

A second person penned: "He was a handsome man and he sang well. Rest in peace."

While a third added: "RIP Patrick Juvet."

The singer's career “has had ups and downs, good times, others less, a bit like Renaud,” summed up Yann Ydoux, who first met the singer 22 years ago.

Juvet's last appearances on stage date back to the Tender Age and Wood Head tour in the 2000s.

“Patrick still had plenty of projects, including a new album as a composer,” added his agent.

In his later years, the Swiss-born singer discussed his career and sexual orientation in greater detail in his autobiography Les bleus au cœur: Souvenirs.

Following the decline of the disco era, Juvet moved around and resided in places such as Los Angeles, London and his home country of Switzerland.

He returned to Paris in the early 1990s and released one more album entitled Solitudes.

On the album, he collaborated with fellow Eurovision star Françoise Hardy.

Juvet released his final album in 2006.

French-composer Jean-Michel Jarre shared his thoughts following the news.

He lamented: “Patrick is a character who is deeper, richer than we might have thought. It's a great loss."
