Mortal Kombat 1 recreated in the style of Mortal Kombat: Deception
It's been nearly 20 years since Mortal Kombat: Deception was released on the Xbox and PlayStation 2. It seems that DIBZ recently decided to showcase what a "remastered" Mortal Kombat: Deception could look like in 2024.
A video uploaded to YouTube by DIBZ shows Mortal Kombat: Deception with Mortal Kombat 1 graphics. At the start menu, options for Kombat, Chess Kombat, Puzzle Kombat, Konquest, MK Online, Kontent, Profiles, and Game Options can be observed, just like with Mortal Kombat: Deception.
Upon selecting "Kombat" and "Arcade," the player is taken to the character select screen. Upon hovering over each character, their two fighting styles and weapon are displayed, just as they were in Deception.
Eventually, the player settles on Sub-Zero and Ashrah as the combatants that will fight. As expected, they look just like how they did in the 2004 game.
Ultimately though, the gameplay retains its 2D elements. This is still essentially Mortal Kombat 1 with a Mortal Kombat: Deception makeover.
