Dead or Alive 6 Deluxe Demo is currently available for free on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Those who download it can try out 24 of the game's playable characters, numerous stages, and a variety of different modes including training.

While fans are getting an early taste of Dead or Alive 6's story mode, its various training options, and are jumping online for ranked bouts ahead of the game's March 1st release date, people like Adeel Soomro over at DisplayLag have been digging into the more technical things — such as input lag.

Known for being well-versed in the world of all things lag in technology, DisplayLag has tested numerous fighting games over the years to see how long it takes for the game to respond when a player hits a button. Now that the Dead or Alive 6 Deluxe Demo is in the hands of the public, Adeel has gone in for input lag tests, and the results aren't too good.

Soomro reports that the Dead or Alive 6 Deluxe Demo has approximately 8.0 frames of input lag on PlayStation 4 Slim. The lag was tested on four different consoles — PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X — and the Slim produced the highest amount of input delay.

To compare, DisplayLag ran another test for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round to see how it stacks up to its successor. Average input lag came in at 5.2 frames, which clocks in around the same amount as their previous tests of the game.

When it comes to the fastest fighting games in terms of input lag, we usually see their results around the four frames mark. 5.2 is strong for DOA5 LR, especially considering 3D titles typically have more animation frames on attacks than 2D fighting games. 8 frames for Dead or Alive 6 Deluxe Demo isn't too hot, though.

It is important to remember that this is a demo version of Dead or Alive 6 and the launch version could be much better with its input delay. Also, the other three consoles outside of the PS4 Slim saw better results, so in a worst case scenario you still might not be suffering the 8 frames if you have the right hardware — assuming input lag remains the same in the final build.
