Giclee (pronounced zee-CLAY) utilizes inkjet technology, but far more advanced than a standard inkjet. Among other advantages, giclee employs an ulta-wide color gamut using 11 (or more) specified inks. Giclees are also produced digitally, saving generations of the detail-robbing experienced with older method such as negatives and plates. This is why giclee has become the gold standard of photographic production in the 21st century.

We strive to make our photo descriptions as accurate as possible. Descriptions are taken directly from the U.S. Library of Congress, National Archives, or other sources as noted. In many cases, these institutions hold the original negatives and state the ascribed notes directly from the original photographer. Therefore, we use these institutions as our standard of authority on description accuracy. We are not responsible for errors and we will not participate in disputes.
