Echinocereus reichenbachii ssp. perbellus

E. perbellus is from Great Plains grassland in Colorado, New Mexico, and from central Texas to the western edge of Oklahoma. It has beautiful, scented, hot pink flowers with bands of white and crimson. Use a soil mix with good drainage and a slightly acidic pH and water regularly during the growing season. A dry winter rest period ensures good flowering in mid to late spring. It is cold hardy in its natural habitat to at least 0°F, but in culture it is best to keep it above 25°F. Full sun exposure results in best spine development and flowering.

Germination of cactus seeds is about timing, temperature, quality of seeds, cleanliness, and establishing a technique for sowing. Some species have a higher germination rate, and/or a lower germination time than others. For that reason a specific success rate can't be guaranteed.
