Mammillaria duwei is a small cactus, typically growing up to 1-3 inches in diameter. The stem is globe-shaped, green, and densely covered with radial spines which are whitish to yellow-brown in color. The cactus has very short central spines which are darker, usually reddish-brown.

One of the defining characteristics of Mammillaria duwei is its remarkable flower. This cactus produces rings of small, white or creamy flowers around its crown, usually in late winter or early spring. These flowers can have a slight pinkish hue in some plants and are known for their exquisite beauty.
