Enermax NAXN 850W Modular Power Supply Review

The power supply has a pretty standard design featuring a black and gold colour scheme. Although the design does not radiate quality in the same way units like the HX1050 does, it is still clear that it is an enthusiast unit. The style owes itself more to gamers with it’s flashy gold fan grill and interesting graphics.

The sides of the unit feature a nice looking sticker which incorporates the NAXN logo, this will look great in any windowed chassis and would be ideal in a gaming rig for LAN parties as it has more of an aggressive look than most units on the market. The sticker is inverted on either side so it remains the right way up whichever way you decide to install the PSU.

The top of the unit contains a sticker with a power table as well as all the other certification and legal business. It is nice to see it all displayed so clearly, but it won’t look pretty if you install the PSU that way up! I would recommend installing the unit with the fan facing up.

The bottom of the unit houses a silent (really silent!) 135mm fan protected by a gold fan grill. A clear fan is a rather odd choice for a PSU but it looks quite nice accompanied by the fan grill with the Enermax logo in the middle. Admittedly, it’s not the best looking design we’ve seen, but it certainly looks good!

The rear of the unit has particularly non-restrictive honeycomb mesh to allow the fan to cool at maximum efficiency, there is also the standard power switch and power socket.

The front of the unit, for some reason, seems to ooze quality. It’s just extremely well designed with the colour scheme, clear labels, nice modular connections and pinouts for each connector. It makes balancing the rails very easy as well!
