Jude Law Should Really Copyright His New Style Signature

Sans clothes, Jude Law sent the Twitterati into meltdown. You know the scene: The Young Pope, sauntering across the beach in Speedos, guilty Catholic eyes all consumed by a body that belies Law's 46 years. But off-Vatican (and in apparel), the British actor paints just as godly a picture.

At the Campari Award Ceremony to Luca Bigazzi - a red carpet event in tandem with the screening of his latest gig, The New Pope - Law doubled-down on what's slowly becoming a style signature. It's not the standard BAFTA issue of a tailored two-piece. Nor is it the fool-proof rotation of Dickie Greenleaf. Instead, we saw a contemporary slant in the form of a a more relaxed take on tailoring, punctuated by a tucked-in scarf.

So far, so thesp. Though instead of a slouchy velvet baker boy hat and lines such as 'I simply adored Don Boyd's 2001 adaptation of King Lear', Law, true to form, cut a cooler figure. The appetite for boxy fits found a happy home in a looser fit, and was sufficiently dressed down with a vest below (a move well-replicated by Taron Egerton et al).

Law then did it all again, because greatness never rests. At a photocall the following evening, we saw another rejig of said formula; this time, in the shape of navy tailoring and a cream scarf below. Simply switch out overarching tones for something wearable (blue, or indeed, monochrome), and ensure the scarf isn't too wintery, or too Gryffindor. Polka dots'll work far better than collegiate stripes.

Of course, this sort of get-up suits the Venice Film Festival far better than a casual weekend dinner. But, say there is a smarter invite in which you don't want to look like every other guest, Law's law is an exact science - from a summer wedding to your own papal coronation.
