The games not terrible, not great either. I thought the controls weren't to bad, corny cut scenes, basically playing a bad kung fu flick from the 80's. But cool to have in the collection.

Contrary to some of the complaints about this entry in the Shinobi series, I thought the graphics were great. They were digitized well, and really add a level of realism. The gameplay and different attacks available are also very good in this one! IMO, the thing that makes the game suffer is mediocre level design. The stages are pretty straight forward, basic and not very innovative. There is also one stage that takes place completely on mine carts in motion and its all about timing jumps - very annoying to say the least, because you just keep falling. Not a bad entry in the series, but not the best either. Pick up the Japanese version which has better music if you can afford it, otherwise, skip this one. Pros - Good graphics - Good gameplay - Nice arsenal of moves/attacks - Cool full motion video cut scenes between levels Cons - Stage design - Excessive platforming / timing jumpsRead full review

After playing Shinobi for Playstation 2, Shinobi Legions was definitely better off as a 2D game. Shinobi Legions plays like all of the games before it; you have your sword and ninja stars to attack enemies and you can collect special weapons to make battles easier. The levels in Shinobi Legions are well designed and can be very challenging. Overall, Legions is pretty challenging although some parts are easy. Legions also features cheesy videos in between levels that are pretty funny and entertaining. Compared to other games on the Saturn, Shinobi looks good, and the animations are smooth. In previous Shinobi games, you would only be able to use your sword on enemies if you were close to them. In Legions you can use your sword at any time which enables you a little more freedom. I would recommend this game to anyone who has a Sega Saturn even though Legions is pretty much the same as every other Shinobi game (minus a few features). Pros: - Fun 2D action game - Great levels Cons: - A little too basicRead full review
Shinobi Legions (Shinobi X) is a great version of the classic arcade game that has been reworked for the Sega Saturn. With digitized graphics and good level designs it's a must for any fan of the series. If you've never played Shinobi Legions and you own a Saturn this will be one of the games you will want to buy as it's one of the great platformers on the system.
