I really did enjoy this game. I have many games that I start, play for awhile, do not complete and then put on a shelf to finish at some latter date. This game was not one of those. I played it all the way to the end without ever removing it from my gaming system. The game itself is more of a action adventure with some role playing elements. It mainly concentrates on vanquishing your foes on the battlefield, but there are many other side quests that do not require violence. You do not level up instead you earn favor with the gods by the way you interact with other characters, by your actions or by dedicating your deeds to them. As you gain their favor you earn points that you can spend to gain special feats which make you more powerful. Some of these feats are always on, others you activate as god powers. If you favor a hack and slash style of game with some elements of role playing or enjoy Greek Mytholigy (as the story line has a lot to do with those fables) give this game a try. I think you would enjoy it also.Read full review
What usually captivate me in games are the stories and role-playing elements. If a game has both then I'll looking into it. Rise of the Argonauts definitely portrays both very well through dialog choices that defines Jason(the character you play as), god power upgrades that you utilize in battle, and the awesome story that unravels many interesting things such as Greek myths. If only the game had one more islands to explore, this game would of been complete for me. However, each island will last for 5 hours or a bit less depending on who is playing. I went through the islands looking for everything I could find and the experience was rewarding. If you are into games like Gears of War, this title isn't for you since there is much more to focus on than just killing enemies. This game is for gamers who like substance in their games. That's not to say that you do get to enjoy killing hundreds of enemies in sweet 300 style slow-mo.Read full review
Okay, you knot heads that seem to think the game should follow the origianl myth perfect, dah! Its a GAME. If it followed the myth perfect there would be nNO surprizes, are you buying this for fum or a cultural anthropology lesson?? The game a damn fun and ya'll can stuff your complaints about it not following the original myth. Get a grip... on the controller. The game is a blast! Took long enough to finish, was a challenge and really darn fun. I liked it!
