About this product

Product Information

Battle Arena Toshinden Remix is a port of the PlayStation game Battle Arena Toshinden. It is complete with new special effects, music, and one new character, Kupeed. Toshinden is a martial arts tournament for which all of the fighters have gathered to participate. During the action the camera angle regularly changes. Action can be viewed from a distance or close up. There are a total of ten characters in the game. Eight of them are playable while the other two, Gaia and Sho, are bosses. Story mode takes players through each character's motives for being at the tournament. Along with many hand-to-hand combat special moves, each character has a weapon. Weapons include swords, knives, claws, a whip, a stone club, and a spear.

  • Good retro style fighter.

If you were a pioneer of the old school era and enjoyed playing fighters such as Tekken, Soul Caliber and Bushido Blade back in the glory days of Playstation 1; you should have no problem getting into this title. The music in this game is very exceptional although you'll have to turn your volume up a little ways to hear it over all of the sound effects. The game play is a little laggy compared to modern fighters. Some attacks feel as though there is a delay in between the time you press a button and the attack connects with your opponent. You get over this issue pretty quickly if you're an avid fan of the retro fighting genre. This game was originally released for the Playstation 1 and ported onto the Sega Saturn with an extra character along with deeper story lines for each character. ...

  • A decent fighter

Battle Arena Toshinden Remix is an update from the original arcade game. They added one or two new characters and some new game modes. While it might not be nearly as good as Virtua Fighter or even Elan Doree, but it is thousands of times better than Criticom which was a complete and total mess. The game is fun to play but is extremely funny in the voice acting. Not nearly as bad as the first Resident Evil, but still entertaining. The gameplay is pretty basic, beat up a coulple of people in a tournament and come out the victor. The probles with this game are that the special moves are hard to pull off, so you'll pretty much find yourself using your weapon and kicks to defeat your enemies. Whe you do a special move it's one of those "what did I do?" moments. Overall the game is pretty ...

  • A great game that set unacknowledged gold standards.

A great fighting game by a lesser known developer, Battle Arena Toshinden combined early 3D fighting movements with a bit more agility, and in this respect even so many years after its release it still seems to be unrivaled. While most 3D fighters have done much less in terms of evasion compared to counters (Power Stone aside), Toshinden had a basic system that combined the best of 2D and 3D engines. While as with other 3D fighters your character can dodge by sidestepping, each time you sidestep both characters are repositioned in a circle. On the X and Y axis (jumping and moving left and right) movement is fairly unrestrained, as with a traditional 2D fighting game, and this makes it much more exciting to get ring-outs and to counter attacks. Attacks and Specials are fairly simple and ...

  • Saturn Exclusive

I actually enjoyed playing this game in '95 despite others opinions of the game. Story Mode is pretty good and it's nothing to beat up on a buddy in Vs. Mode. You get a little ending for your character after you complete the game. The game also has two extra characters after you complete it(Sho and Cupido). With external or internal saving, you can always pick the extra fighters without beating the game all over. I didn't expect nothing major to come out of this game. There are fighting games better than this, but I think it's worth getting if you can find it for a decent price.

  • Good value for your money

Good value for a retro Sega Saturn game.
