Maria de Fatima Amaral

Maria was the beloved wife of Jose Meneses, who was dedicated to her care and remained by her side until the end. Predeceased by her children, Frankie Amaral and Lucy Ferreira, and her first husband, Joao Amaral. She will be sadly missed by her sons and daughters-in-law, Nelson, Jill, Johnny and Nicole Amaral and son-in-law, Tony Ferreira. Maria’s grandchildren meant the world to her and she will be deeply missed by Kayla Cain (Dylan), Sarah Ferreira, Ava, Noah, Cohen and Jacob Amaral. Through her marriage to Jose, Maria was a loving stepmother and grandmother to Anthony and Ana Bettencourt, and children, Andrew, Alyssa and Adam; Richard and Elizabeth Botelho and children, Isabella, Selena and Sophia and Fabio and Jessica Almeida and children, Antonio and Tiago. Maria was the youngest child in the close knit set of siblings Gilda Andrade (late Joao), Eugino Melo (late Gilda) and the late Lourdes and Norberto Pedro. She will live on in the memories of her extended family and the many friends she made along her journey. The family would like to sincerely thank Maria’s longtime oncologist, Dr. Nadia Califaretti, for being Maria’s biggest healthcare champion who always looked for new treatments and always had her best interests in mind. They would also like to thank the caring and thoughtful staff Innisfree House for their support and attention to Maria, and her family, during her last days. Maria's family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Please note: Proof of vaccination along with government-issued photo ID will be required to be admitted into the funeral home. Masks or face coverings are mandatory. A private funeral will be held by the family with interment to follow in Williamsburg Cemetery.
