Jemima Rooper has said that she would love an As If reunion.

The Atlantis actress starred as Nicki Sutton in the Channel 4 comedy-drama, which ran for four series from 2001 to 2004.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Rooper said that she would be open for a one-off special, especially as the show was made by some of her current colleagues.

"It's by the same guys that make Atlantis," she said. "They're so busy now, I don't know.

"We kept saying wouldn't it be brilliant to do a This Life-type 10-years-on thing. I'd love to see them."

As If also starred Paul Chequer, Emily Corrie, Orlando Wells, Caroline Chikezie and Ben Waters, and centred around a group of six young adults, with each episode focusing on a different character's point of view.

Rooper added: "I know one of the actresses [Corrie] is now in the navy, so I don't know whether she would come back! But I adored that job, it was special at the time."

The actress also spoke about her four-part ITV series Lost in Austen, which followed her character Amanda, who is able to enter the plot of Pride and Prejudice through a portal in her bathroom.

The show ran for four episodes in 2008, with a movie adaptation in the works involving director Sam Mendes and late screenwriter Nora Ephron.

On whether it could have come back for a second series, Rooper said: "At one point the script was very open-ended and it looked like they could have made it into another series, but they didn't do that and I don't know whether that was to do with selling the film rights.

"It's probably my all-time favourite part that I've had, and I met two of my best friends on it and Guy Andrews did such a brilliant job at making it so funny and clever, and yet it has this universal warm appeal. I'd love to do anything to do with that again."

On whether the series could be adapted into a stage play or a film, she added: "A musical! A glam rock musical with Jane Austen songs! I would definitely be ousted by a big American star, at one point Emma Stone was talked about, which was very depressing for me! I'm still hoping they might give me a little cameo."

Jemima Rooper is currently starring in the West End play Breeders at the St James Theatre until October 4.
