Sony VPL-VW325ES

Great upgrade from EPSON 4050ub. I thought it was going to be darker and washout more if the light was on but it does neither. Make sure you are using a cable that can handle a 4K signal or you will experience screen blanking. Well worth the money

Sony vs. JVC
Crutchfield customer from Potomac, MD on 12/7/2021
The Sony is way better than the JVC. I am super happy with the Sony, clear, reliable, it is a keeper. Don't sell any JVC until they orrery all the problems.

Accessory and parts issues
Fred from Roseburg, OR on 11/8/2021
Great picture quality, but this appears to be an older model that Sony dosent seem to want to support for part and accessories anymore. For instance the required ceiling mount PSS-H10 has been discontinued with no replacement. I ended up drilling mounting holes in my old Epson Projector ceiling mount, which is not an optimal solution. Another example is that the replacement lamp LMP-H220 is not available from Sony's parts department, Encompass. Instead I had to order one from an aftermarket supplier, bulbs.com. I sure hope these are just temporary issues and Sony continues to support this product line, it really is a great projector for picture quality.

It's Good!
Keshaun from DUMFRIES, VA on 10/18/2021
I knew this projector was going to be good when I ordered it, but I was not prepared for how great the image looks! My previous projector was the "4k" Optoma UHD30. The image on that projector was pretty sharp. Colors were not accurate and the contrast was not even near how good this projector is. And honestly I thought that protector looked good until I saw this one. I didn't even know a protector could look this good. Black levels albeit in a light controlled room are incredible. I believe this is competitor to the JVC model which goes for $6,000 but unfortunately it does not have lens memory like the JVC although it has a motorized lens. This almost seems intentional by Sony so that you're forced to buy their next model up which is $10,000. Lens memory aside the only other complaint I have with this projector is that you have to manually select your calibrated presets for different content. For example when it goes into HDR I use a preset. And when it's not HDR content I use another preset. It would be nice to set it to where it automatically switches to the preset based on the type of content. Projector central has an excellent review of this product: https://www.projectorcentral.com/Sony-VPL-VW325ES-4K-SXRD-Projector-Review.htm
Pros: Excellent black level. Color accuracy is great. Contrast is top notch. Images really pop.
Cons: No lens memory. A simple firmware update would solve this but not likely to happen.

Great, true 4K projector
David from Seattle on 8/8/2021
Upgraded from a pixel shifting 4K projector to this Sony and it's incredible. My family does not typically notice image quality and several have commented how great this looks. Very glad I upgraded.
Pros: Image quality Out of the box and running in 5 minutes

Critical Mass
Dan from Cody, WY on 6/18/2021
I have always looked for products that reach a 'Critical Mass'. That is to say that the product performs at a point where any additional improvement requires an inordinate amount of money. The Sony VPL-VM325ES is such a product. Are there projectors that outperform this projector? Yes, I believe so, but only marginally and they cost 2X, 3X or more to achieve that. In my totally light controlled room (full calibration) I would venture to say that it would be difficult to improve the image on any basis.
Pros: Equals the image sharpness of some of the best 4K TVs Extremely quiet Quick start-up
Cons: Probably not the best choice in a room with a lot of ambient light - laser being a better choice No keystone correction
