Concurrently with the commemorations for the fiftieth anniversary of the death of the artist, the Picasso Museum in Barcelona is holding an exhibition dedicated to Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, one of Picasso’s main dealers.

The show explores the life and work of this gallerist, publisher and writer, focusing on key moments in his personal biography, the effect of the two world wars, his exhibition record and his relationship with Pablo Picasso.

Included in the exhibition is this work by Josep de Togores, the Catalan artist who was on the roster of Galerie Simon, the gallery Kahnweiler opened in Paris in 1920. On the back of this highly expressive work, dated in 1921 and belonging the BBVA Collection, one can see the label of Galerie Simon as well as the labels of other galleries, bearing witness to its providence and its having passed through the hands of Galerie Flechtheim in Berlin and Sala Parés in Barcelona.
