Shelley Linnet Forst, had a kind heart

July 10, 2023

Shelley Linnet Forst, 65, of Lewes, passed away peacefully at home after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends Sunday, July 2, 2023. She was born Oct.  1, 1957, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes to the late Leon and Phyllis (Damrow) Fisher.

Shelley graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1975 and was known for her kind and thoughtful nature. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Throughout her career, she owned a daycare for several years and worked as a caregiver for the elderly. One of her most rewarding roles was as a resident counselor for the Salvation Army. In 2016, Shelley retired from Easterseals after dedicating 10 years of service as a personal care assistant. She consistently demonstrated her unwavering commitment to providing compassionate care to those in need.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Shelley had a wide range of passions. She found joy in arts and crafts, nurturing her gardens, planting flowers, and indulging in a game of solitaire. However, her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family, dear friends, and her cherished pets.

Shelley is profoundly missed by her loving sons, Christopher Forst of Lewes, Hunter Forst of Lewes, and Steve Marsh (Cyndi) of Harbeson. She will forever be remembered in the hearts of her grandchildren, Justin and Abigail Marsh. As the youngest of four siblings, Shelley is survived by her brothers and sisters, Thomas L. Fisher of Lewes, Joanne Howell of Georgetown, and Diane Huff of Georgetown. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and -nephews.

Shelley's legacy is marked by her kind heart and infectious humor. She generously shared both with her family and friends, brightening every space she entered. Her quick wit and impromptu singing always kept the mood light, and these memories will continue to bring comfort to her loved ones as they navigate the loss.

Final care arrangements for Shelley have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

A celebration of life will be planned in her honor.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations in Shelley's memory to the American Cancer Society, donate.cancer.org/?ca.
