Agave salmiana (aka pulque agave)

Agave Salmiana is a large, wicked looking agave. You definately don’t want to trip and fall into this plant! It can grow 8-10 feet tall and equally as wide. Its a slow growing plant and is reported to take up to 15-25 years to mature in the wild. It prefers well drained soils and direct, full, sunlight. It is hardy in USDA zones 7b-10b. Our recommendation is to plant these on 11-12 ft. centers and 6-7 feet down the row. Mature pinas can weigh over 500+ lbs each. The plants produce clones.
