Built mainly from 1480 to 1520 by Bérenger de Roquefeuil, a powerful baron from the south of France, the Bonaguil castle is a perfect example of military architecture in France at the end of the XNUMXth century. It constitutes the last testimony of the medieval fortification at the same time as it announces a new type of defense based on the use of firearms. This grandiose and magical ensemble, which the war spared but which the Revolution deflowered, can be considered today as a capital testimony to feudal France. Its exceptional charm, due to its isolated location in the heart of a hinterland where trees are king, makes it a true dream castle.
