After two years of dating, Love Actually star Thomas Brodie-Sangster is engaged to actress Talulah Riley, ABC News reports. The English actor—who played Sam, the stepson of Liam Neeson’s character, Daniel, in the iconic romantic comedy—shared the exciting news with his family, friends, and followers on Instagram on July 27, 2023. “Happy to announce that Talulah and I are engaged,” his caption says. “Love is all around X.” Many fans inferred that the last line of the post was a reference to the 2003 hit film. In the movie, Hugh Grant as the prime minister delivers a monologue, which includes the famous line, “If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.”

Along with his caption, Brodie-Sangster uploaded a photo of himself and his new fiancée riding on a boat in a canal. While the actor is standing with a paddle in his hand, his girlfriend is sitting down, admiring the views. In the image, Brodie-Sangster is dressed in khakis and a striped button-down shirt, while Riley is wearing a beige sweater and a floral skirt. Both of them are clad in sunglasses and a fedora.

Riley also updated her new relationship status on social media. The actress, who has appeared in movies and television shows, such as Pride & Prejudice, Westworld, and Inception, posted about the milestone moment on Twitter the same day. “Very happy to share that after two years of dating, Thomas Brodie Sangster and I are engaged!” she exclaims. In addition to the text, Riley attached a selfie of herself and her fiancé looking into the camera while showing off soft smiles. Riley was previously married to Elon Musk, who replied to Riley’s tweet with a supportive message. “Congratulations! ♥️," he wrote.

Accord to People, Brodie-Sangster and Riley first met in March 2021 as co-stars in Pistol, a biographical drama series. In August of that year, the two were spotted holding hands in London, which sparked romance rumors. The following year, the couple made their red carpet debut at the 2022 British Academy Film Awards Gala Dinner, which seemingly confirmed their relationship status.

In an interview with The Times in May 2022, Riley opened up about her partnership with Brodie-Sangster. The actress noted that it wasn’t love at first sight, but instead, a romantic attraction developed over time. “We hadn't really acknowledged each other as a romantic possibility or potential until the moment that we both did,” she explained. “And it was the same moment a number of months after having worked together and been good friends.” The following month, the duo made their relationship official on Instagram after Riley shared an image of herself and her boyfriend cuddling on the set of Pistol.
