Tuesday’s school roundup: Hingham boys’ lacrosse coach John Todd joins 400 club

Hingham coach John Todd became only the second boys’ lacrosse coach in state history to reach 400 wins as the seventh-ranked Harbormen took down Plymouth South, 13-0, on Tuesday.

Todd joins Rick Mazzei (405 wins) in the premier 400-club. Mazzei coached at Beverly, Saugus, and Malden Catholic.

Todd has been at the helm for Hingham the past 27 seasons after spending two years as the freshman coach.

The Harbormen seemed poised to secure the milestone for Todd early as they jumped out to a 2-0 advantage behind goals from juniors Devin Irvin and Collin Sullivan.

After the first quarter, Hingham held a 4-0 lead and didn’t stop there, doubling that number to 8-0 before the half.

Hingham (12-4) scored three more times in the third and twice in the fourth to complete the shutout over Plymouth South.

Sullivan and Irvin, along with senior Max Ullrich and sophomore Eric Rubino, led the way for the Harbormen with two goals apiece. Will Kellem recorded the shutout in net.

Boys’ lacrosse

Lynnfield 8, Ipswich 3 — Senior goalie Jack Ganter made 15 saves for the Pioneers (8-2).

Brookline 11, Waltham 6 — Senior Jesse Leung led the Warriors (9-3) with four goals and three assists.

Reading 14, Wilmington 3 — Freshman Mike Tovin scored three goals and had two assists for the No. 3 Rockets (12-0).

Concord-Carlisle 13, Wayland 7 — Senior midfielder Andrew Hughes scored 5 goals for the fourth-ranked Patriots (12-1).

North Reading 13, Georgetown 4 — Senior attack Brad Lumb scored 7 goals for the Hornets (7-6).

Newburyport 12, Hamilton-Wenham 11 — Myles Maloof scored the winner in overtime for the Clippers (7-5).

Newton North 10, Wellesley 6 — Senior Dante Leone had three goals and senior Louis Yarmolinsky added one goal and four assists for the ninth-ranked Tigers (10-2).

Hopedale 16, Advanced Math and Science 3 — Noah Luccini netted six goals and had two assists, while John Rainville and Trevor Wilson both earned hat tricks to propel the host Blue Raiders (7-8). Robbie Blizzard, Nathan Li and Jesse Palefsky all scored for the Eagles (5-6).

Algonquin 8, Groton-Dunstable 4 — Zach Skowronek scored twice and had two assists, while Tommy Ackil chipped in two goals as the No. 1 Tomahawks (10-2, 7-0 Mid-Wach A) defeated the host Crusaders (8-5, 2-4).

St. Bernard’s 10, Doherty 7 — Curtiss Vachon and Nick Bagley both notched hat tricks to lift the Bernardians (10-3) over the visiting Warriors (7-6). St. Bernard’s Zach Zarrella and Zach Bingham both scored twice. Mike Mahoney and C.J. Gallagher both had two goals for Worcester.

Northbridge 11, St. Peter-Marian 10 — Chandler Brooks had five goals and an assist, while Brendan Morganelli notched a hat trick as the visiting Rams (5-7) edged the Guardians (0-11).

Westborough 14, Wachusett 5 — Trevor McNamara scored five goals, Charles Katz scored three and Jon Gross added two as the No. 2 Rangers (9-2, 5-1 Mid-Wach A) beat the Mountaineers (9-5, 3-4) in Holden. Wachusett’s Griffin LaPosta scored twice.

Tyngsborough 15, Littleton 8 — Russ Gillis had eight goals, while Kyle Laforge had six assists to send visiting Tyngsboro (11-4, 5-1 Mid-Wach B) over Littleton (11-2, 5-1). Tyngsboro’s Matt Sola had a hat trick and Matt Butler (2 goals, 3 assists) and Jimmy Albert each scored twice. Griffin Shoemanker (assist) and Jared Collari each had hat tricks for Littleton, while William Scott added two goals and an assist.

Shrewsbury 11, Nashoba 5 — Matt Ward had four goals and two assists, while Ben Johnson (3 assists) and Colin Michael (2 assists) each scored twice and Chris Campbell had a goal and assist to send the host Colonials (5-8, 3-4 Mid-Wach A) past the Chieftains (0-14, 0-6). Robert Braceland and Mike Czekanski each scored twice for Nashoba, while Rory Boots had a goal and three assists.

Marlborough 8, Bromfield 7 — Dom Carter notched a hat trick and Jason Plaunt (2 assists) and Dan Hayward both scored twice to help the visiting Panthers (11-2, 5-0 Mid-Wach C) edge the Trojans (4-7, 2-4). Mike Thornton led Bromfield with five goals and an assist. Ryan Mechler added a goal and three assists for Marlboro.

Shepherd Hill 12, Oakmont 7 — Tristan Pietz (3 assists), Devin Pietz (assist) and Jake Zablocki (assist) all notched hat tricks to propel the visiting Rams (7-8, 4-3 Mid-Wach B) past the Spartans (6-5, 2-4). Michael Tremblay scored twice for Shepherd Hill. Oakmont’s Nate McCartney (2 assists) and Jacob Banks both scored twice.

Girls’ lacrosse

Needham 16, Norwood 3 — Sarah Conley had four goals to lead the No. 3 Rockets (13-0).

Bromfield 18, Oakmont 1 — Junior Meg Parlee (goal, 4 assists) recorded her 200th career point to help the host No. 2 Trojans (10-3, 6-0 Mid-Wach B) beat the Spartans (5-5, 1-5) and clinch a postseason berth. Sophia Turchetta (5 goals, assist), Courtney Route (4 goals), and Chandler Farley (3 goals) also contributed for Bromfield. Alyssa Girouard scored for Oakmont.

Lunenburg 15, Fitchburg 4 — Kelly Gearin had four goals and four assists and notched her 100th career point as the host Blue Knights (9-1, 4-0 Mid-Wach C) rolled past the Red Raiders (1-9, 0-5). Lunenburg’s Emma Favreau had four goals and an assist, while Kylie Hill had three goals and three assists and Libby Walsh scored twice. Larissa Brooks scored twice for Fitchburg.

North Middlesex 16, Leominster 5 — Samantha Donohoe and Molly O'Neill both had hat tricks to lead the Patriots (8-4) past the host Blue Devils (1-11). Leominster’s Alyssa Valliere had three goals.

Tyngsborough 11, Littleton 8 — Senior Natalie Wickens had five goals and sophomore Lexie Casey added four goals to propel host Tyngsboro (7-4, 3-2 Mid-Wach B) over Littleton (6-5, 3-3). Tyngsboro senior Jenna Durkin scored twice. Lauren Faber had a hat trick, Kerri Bolivar and Katie Young each scored twice and Elliana Stormwind scored for Littleton.

Westborough 15, Wachusett 7 — Nicole Foster had four goals, junior middie Olivia Weckwerth had three goals and four assists and senior captain Sarah Bracey had three goals and two assists as the No. 1 Rangers (11-0, 7-0 Mid-Wach A) turned back the visiting Mountaineers (7-5, 2-5). Westboro’s Olivia Harwood had two goals and Brittany Chapin had a goal and two assists. Emily LaPosta scored four times for Wachusett and Keli Carrigan added two goals.

Whitman-Hanson 4, Duxbury 3 — Senior pinch hitter Ryan Amado capped off a comeback with a walkoff infield single for the Panthers (8-3).

Dover-Sherborn 4, Holliston 3 — Pitcher Holden Ferrari went the distance for the Raiders (8-6), striking out six and allowing just two earned runs on three hits.

Newton North 11, Needham 8 — Senior Mike Butera hit a three-run home run for the Tigers (8-4).

Framingham 3, Brookline 2 — Junior Joe Mescall pitched six innings, striking out six for the Flyers (5-7).

Peabody 5, Salem 4 — Sophomore Jake Gustin went 3 for 4 with a solo home run for the Tanners (8-5).

Dighton Rehoboth 4, Case 0 — Junior righthander Arthur Correia pitched a no-hitter for the Falcons (9-3).

Gann Academy 12, Boston Trinity 1 — Senior Josh Hurwitz fired a complete-game, one-hitter for the Red Heifers with eight strikeouts.

Nipmuc 10, Douglas 0 — Izaiah Wadsworth struck out 10 and took a no-hitter into the sixth, while Jack Ernst went 2 for 3 with an RBI as the Warriors (8-3, 6-0 Dual Valley) blanked the visiting Tigers (1-9, 1-4). Douglas’ Matt LaTour singled.

Leicester 6, Millbury 4 — Brett Willand (3 for 4, 3 runs, stolen base) and Ryan Greaney (single) both homered to power the visiting Wolverines (5-3, 5-2 SWCL) past the Woolies (7-5, 5-5). Ryan Ward (3 for 3, triple, home run) and Nick Morley (2 hits, RBI) led Millbury.

Oxford 13, David Prouty 1 — Bryce St. Germain went 2 for 3 with a homer and three runs to help the host No. 10 Pirates (10-3, 8-2 SWCL) beat the Panthers (3-8, 1-7) and clinch a postseason berth for the sixth straight season. Oxford’s Colin Ryan allowed a run on four hits and struck out four over five innings in his first varsity start

Clinton 13, Assabet 1 — Doug Price went the distance and allowed one unearned runs on five hits and striking out nine, while Johan Ascencio, Frankie Matos and Owen Grady (2 RBIs) all had two hits and two RBIs to send the host Gaels (6-4) over the Aztecs (6-3). Brandon Gorman, James Cappello and James LeClair all doubled for Assabet.

Ayer Shirley 14, North Brookfield 2 — Will Doyle scored three runs and Lucas Sargent tripled and scored to lift the host Panthers (7-4). Justin Lareau singled twice for the visiting Indians (0-9).

Maynard 18, Littleton 2 — Tyler Cedeno went 5 for 5 with four RBIs and Josh Wagner had two doubles and three RBIs as Maynard (4-8) won on the road. Mike Ray gathered two hits for Littleton (5-5).

Groton-Dunstable 18, Quabbin 0 — Justin Watt (3 runs, 4 RBIs), Jacob Barnes (3 runs, 3 RBIs) and Pat Keating (2 runs, 3 RBIs) paced the No. 3 Crusaders (10-0, 7-0 Midland B) past the visiting Panthers (4-7, 1-5). Chris Lattini added two hits and an RBI for Groton-Dunstable.

Uxbridge 8, Southbridge 5 — Lucas Pomeroy went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Dom Cariglia had a two-run double to spark the host Spartans (8-4, 7-3 SWCL). Jose Miranda-Morales and Brendan Casaletta both notched two hits for the Pioneers (3-9, 1-9).

Blackstone Valley 12, West Boylston 2 — Tyler Brodeur threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and Blake Morin was 3 for 5 with five RBIs to power the host Beavers (8-3) past the Lions (10-2). Andrew Lavargne added two RBIs and Marc Flores had three RBIs for BVT. Christian Martinez and Ben Suffin scored for West Boylston.

Norton 1, Norwood 0 — Sophomore Kelly Nelson pitched a perfect-game and struck out 14 for the Lancers (12-0).

Framingham 15, Natick 4 — Senior Colleen Myers went 4 for 5 with 4 runs scored and 4 RBIs for the Flyers (6-7).

Abington 10, Carver 0 — Sophomore Tori Young pitched a complete-game and went 4 for 4 with an RBI for the Green Wave (7-3).

Millis 10, Bellingham 0 — Sophomore Carly Wenzel scattered five hits and had 11 strikeouts and junior center fielder Abby Pyenson led the offense going 4 for 5 with two RBIs for the No. 19 Mohawks (10-3).

Bishop Stang 5, New Bedford 2 — Sophomore Casey Thomas pitched allowed five hits and struck out three in a complete game for the Spartans (7-2).

East Bridgewater 14, Norwell 3 — Junior Sophie Halverson had five hits, including two triples, for the Vikings (7-3).

Bridgewater-Raynham 8, Dennis-Yarmouth 1 — Senior Ally Murphy, junior Hannah Rideout, and freshman Lexi Silva had two RBIs apiece for the Trojans (10-1).

Somerset Berkley 9, Dartmouth 3 — Senior center fielder Cassie Graca went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs for the Raiders (8-4).

Wachusett 2, Hudson 1 — Kiana Lloyd was 2 for 3 with a double and belted a solo homer in the top of the seventh to give the No. 1 Mountaineers (12-0) a win over the No. 9 Hawks (8-2) in Hudson. Wachusett’s Courtney Lanpher fanned eight and scattered seven hits, while Madison Provencher added two hits to lead. Amanda Doucette and Sydney Chaisson each had two hits for Hudson, while Haley Gaffney smacked a solo homer in the third to give the Hawks an early lead.

Millbury 8, Leicester 3 — Alena Gatchell (2 for 4, 3 RBIs), Nicole Canas (3 for 4, 2 RBIs) and Katie O'Leary (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) lifted the host Woolies (9-4, 7-4 SWCL). Katelyn McKay went 2 for 3 for the Wolverines (8-1, 6-1).

Oxford 12, David Prouty 5 — Amanda Fradsham had a single, two doubles, three RBIs and two runs , while Sarah Keohane had two singles, an RBI and a run to power the Pirates (3-7, 3-7 SWCL). Michelle Lamothe had two singles and an RBI for the visiting Panthers (2-8, 2-8).

Groton-Dunstable 14, Quabbin 2 — Sarah Woods allowed one hit and struck out seven over four innings, while Jen Thorburn was 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs as the No. 7 Crusaders (10-2, 7-0 Midland B) topped the visiting Panthers (2-8, 2-4) and qualified for the postseason. Groton-Dunstable’s Charlotte McCarthy was 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs and Whitney Ellis was 3 for 5 with an RBI. Woods (triple, 3 RBIs), Rose O'Malley, Helen Killian (3 RBIs) and Bridget O'Malley all had two hits for the Crusaders.

Shrewsbury 2, Nashoba 0 — Emma Lacasse struck out six and allowed just one hit, while Ashley Lynch had two hits and Gianna Simone doubled as the visiting No. 5 Colonials (10-3) edged the Chieftains (6-5) to qualify for the postseason. Amanda Suleski doubled and Taylor Colvin struck out six for Nashoba.

Burncoat 21, Worcester North 1 — Kaitlin Sundstrom was 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs, while Kylie Thomas had four runs and three RBIs and Maire Gallagher was 2 for 3 with four runs and an RBI to lift the host Patriots (3-9, 3-2 Inter-High) past the Polar Bears (1-9, 0-5) in five innings. Beaudoin also struck out eight and allowed an unearned run for Burncoat, while Ada Rivera had two hits for North.

Littleton 9, Maynard 8 — Abby Raymond went the distance and hit a walk-off single in the ninth to lift Littleton (5-5) over visiting Maynard (6-5). Raymond’s hit capped a furious four-run, ninth-inning comeback by Littleton, which trailed 8-5 heading into the inning. Littleton’s Hannah Gouldrup was 4 for 5 with two RBIs, and scored the tying run in the seventh to force extra innings. Maynard’s Alyssa Ehrenfried had a three-run homer, double, single and four RBIs.

Holy Name 18, Worcester South 6 — Hayley Novia and Mia Monopoli both had two hits and a double to boost the No. 3 Naps (10-2). Sarah Vannasse went 2 for 4 with a double for the host Colonels (5-6).

Uxbridge 23, Southbridge 4 — Melissa Silva had a single, a double, a grand slam, seven RBIs and four runs to spark the host Spartans (8-5, 6-5 SWCL). Tatiana Rosario homered in the fourth for the Pioneers (1-10, 0-10).

Amherst-Pelham 5, Tantasqua 4 — Lindsey Zak was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Emily Blanchard was 2 for 4 with an RBI, but the visiting Warriors (6-6) fell after the Hurricanes rallied for four runs in the fifth inning.

Ayer Shirley 25, North Brookfield 1 — Sydney Greeno (5 for 5, 3 RBIs) Eileen McKenna-Guerreio (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) Julie Maillet (3 for 4, 2 RBIs) and Jen McGrath (3 for 4, 4 RBIs) lifted the host Panthers (5-4). Kim O'Brien drove in a run for the Indians (3-5).

East Bridgewater 119, Cohasset 17 — Junior Dan Lovell won the long jump, triple jump, high hurdles, and 400 hurdles for the Vikings (4-0).

Nashoba 110, Quabbin 35 — Jair Cruikshank won the 400 hurdles (60.5) and Jacob Hicks claimed the javelin (132-4) as the host Chieftains topped the Panthers. Quabbin junior Matt Kendal took the triple jump (39-8).

Shrewsbury 83, Algonquin 62 — Mike McCormick won the 110 hurdles, 200 and the long jump and Andrew Trabins won the pole vault and javelin, but the Tomahawks (4-1, 4-1 Midland A) fell to the visiting Colonials (4-2, 4-1).

Advanced Math and Science 80, Nashoba Valley Tech 56 — John Williams (400, javelin), Chris Hamel (shot put, discus), J.P. Carbonneau (100, long jump) and Jacob Shuler (2 mile, 400 hurdles) led the visiting Eagles (6-1, 6-0 Colonial) past the Vikings (1-3, 1-3).

Marlborough 76, North Middlesex 68 — Sam Dias won the high jump, the 100, and the 200, while Sebastian Pascal won the long jump and the 400 as the Panthers (1-3, 1-3 Midland B) topped the Patriots (0-6, 0-6).

Leominster 69, Shepherd Hill 67 — Kyle Jackson won the long jump, 200 and triple jump as the Blue Devils (2-3, 2-3 Midland A) edged the host Rams (0-5, 0-5).

Wachusett 111, Fitchburg 25 — Olivia Burns took the high jump (4-10) and the 100 (13.0) to help the visiting Mountaineers (4-0) top the Red Raider (1-4) at Crocker Field. Fitchburg’s Emerson Scott won the long jump (14-3-1/2) and the 400 hurdles (1:13.7).

Shepherd Hill 84, Leominster 50 — Senior captain Rachel Bianculli won the 100 hurdles and the 400 hurdles, while junior Tory Stoddard won the high jump and triple jump and freshman Molly Springer won the shot put and the discus to pace the host Rams (2-3) past the Blue Devils (0-5).

Nashoba 99, Quabbin 46 — Emily Vidanco won the 2 mile and the mile and Christina MacLure won the long jump and the 400 to lift the visiting Chieftains (4-0, 4-0 Midland B). Morgan Giarusso won the shot put, javelin and 200 for the Panthers (3-4, 2-4).
