Great system at the sale price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me just start out with I'm replacing a full home theater system due to opening up the room and no longer using crown molding to run all the wires around the room. This was a full system (1700 w) of front and front highs, two surround, two rear, center and a 250 a sub. Not that I could ever use all the power but it was very nice for a 14' x 17' room. I like it! Great sound for a sound bar, especially since it supports Dolby atmos. I chose this over the Bose LS 650, Enclave and Sonos. I do have Sonos in my home but do have the Sonos connector which uses an optical connector. I'm going to hit the negatives first, this way if you see something you don't like you can stop reading. Samsung should offer speaker stands for the rear speakers, mostly due to all the slim universal stands do not accommodate running a power cable through the stand. Although wire ties or velcro works. Also the sound bar itself is very wide, it doesn't fit between the stands of my 75", being in front means I need 20" of depth to support. TV is set up in corner so a wall mount is out. Will be making my own cabinet. See pic. Another negative is that it doesn't support eArc (yet supposedly coming soon). There are lip sync issues when attempting to hook all your devices to the tv and use the Arc hdmi to provide the audio to the soundbar. Using the smart TV functions seem way better and not that bad. But when running a cable box or game console there is a noticeable difference. I didn't spend a ton of time with the delay options. I purchased the Sanus - 28 to 42 inch stands. They come with a flat top option which works (maybe not with small children) with double sided pads. See pic. Another negative is no mic to assist with setting up channel volumes. Another negative is only 2 hdmi inputs. Which is ok for me since I only have the cable box and a xbox which also plays blue rays. What works and are positive. Setting up is very easy, just be sure to follow the sequencing when powering up the speakers this way you will not have any connection issues when syncing the speakers and sub. The remote works well once you get used to it. The smart things app could use a few more features for setting up the sound and wifi. Which also makes it easy to do updates. There are a few sound modes. Adaptive which is supposed to change based on the input. I only find this useful in the later hours when you need to turn the volume down. The voices seem to be isolated so they can be heard. Standard is what it is, just standard Surround seems to be the overall best for anything that is 5.1 or better. Game mode pro works very well, even for fps games. There is a virtual mode which seems to work well for sound that needs a boost with using all of the channels. Overall performance is great, remember this is a sound bar not a full home theater system. Although it might outperform some on the market. The sound is very clean and what you would expect from Harmon Kardon. even though it only has a little over 500 watts it seems like much more. I have only turned it up a little under half way and it is loud, clear, and pushes the sound through out the room. I don't have any issues with the separation between the channels and can hear the sound move around the room very nicely. I watched Avatar, Jack Reacher movies over the weekend and was impressed. I use my xbox for Prime, Netflix and Disney Plus which is way better than using the smart TV apps (no lip sync issues as long as run through the sound bar). I haven't tried any true Dolby Atmos on blue ray yet but looking forward to it. I did some research and Prime and Netflix do support some shows in Atmos and they sound great. The sub is more than enough for a mid size room. I know this was a little long but I think I hit everything I needed to. I'm very happy with my choice. Would a full home theater be better? Possibly, but you would need to deal with wires, mounting and needing space. Also be willing to spend more than the sale price of this system.

Outstanding sound, easy setup.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup and works seamlessly with my Samsung Q70 TV. Superb sound in my large great room. Connects to my iPhone so I can play Apple Music through it if I like. I got stands for rear speakers (just one actually). Also, Best Buy’s price matching policy is awesome. 3days after I bought it Amazon emailed me a price drop of $500. I contacted Best Buy through chat and the agent refunded the difference to my CC in about five minutes. Wonderful. Will certainly be doing business with Best Buy into the future.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to complement my Q900, however, after doing a thorough side by side with my Playbar, discontinued play 3’s as my rears, and the sub set up in my entertainment room I found that my current set up sounded much clearer and crisp than this soundbar. I was set and prepared to enjoy the Atmos experience with this playbar, however, even with adjusting the different sound modes something felt a bit empty with the sound. I connected it using WiFi, HDMI, and optical to properly see if I was missing anything, however, unfortunately decided to return it.

HW-Q90R / HW-Q80R Soundbars
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love both of them. I was just disappointed when my matching HW-90 wasn't as wide as my matching 65" tv like the HW-80 was the exact width of its matching 55" tv. Other than that I think they are awesome!

Complete Home Theater Experience in Simple Package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To truly experience a home theater experience, you need impressive sound to do so. There are a lot of options out there and they can get really complex if you don't fully understand what you are doing. Samsung created this 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Surround Sound System to give you a huge experience with little effort, and it worked! DOLBY ATMOS DISCLAIMER: - As it's advertised, this is a surround sound system that is capable of Dolby Atmos. If you don't know what it is, I think it's really worth it to do some research just because this sound system really shines when you use Dolby Atmos - However, you need to have devices capable of playing Dolby Atmos and the correct speaker placement to experience it in the right way. It's easy to use but important to do your research to make sure you are getting your value out of these! PROS: - The 4 piece system is beautiful! It looks very elegant yet high end. And the black color doesn't make it look cheap but modern. - Overall set up is very easy! Once powered out, they have simple buttons to push to pair them all together. After they are connected you plug in the HDMI (or Digital Optical) cable and you are all set! - The sound is....unbelievable! Watching just antenna, sports, video games, or movies on surround sound or even if surround sound isn't supported, it just sound so great. - Dolby Atmos Shows and Movies on this create an entirely new experience for watching movies! You can actually feel the sound moving around you, objects going from side to side or front to back, it just completely immerses you into what you are watching and is a whole other level of viewing. Very impressive. - The Rear Speakers add that depth that is very much needed, especially since they both are dolby atmos enabled. - The Sound System is smart so you can easily connect to it from your smart phone to play music on it or even use it from any bluetooth device. It creates another perk if you don't want to want to use your TV to listen to music. CONS: - The Soundbar is big and pretty heavy so you need to plan accordingly for space needed and studs will be needed to wall mount it. - It only has two HDMI Arc inputs for Dolby Atmos support. That's probably enough for most people but it would be nicer to have 3-4 instead since it's beneficial to have all your devices go through the Arc inputs. - There are 4 speakers essentially (soundbar, subwoofer, two rear speakers) and all 4 of them require a power input. This isn't necessarily a negative but just something to be aware of when you are setting up. - There is currently only support for Amazon Alexa. I primarily use Google Home so it's a negative for me but that's okay. BOTTOM LINE: - If you have Dolby Atmos capable devices and you want a true movie theater experience without having to get overly technical, you will be blown away and how this takes your home theater to the next level. Truly a great product!!

Q: QuestionNotice that the model have change from Hw-q90r/za to Hw-q90z. Is their any difference? Also why is it a specialty item? Thank you for any info.
Asked by Scionjjuanta.
- A:Answer I called BestBuy support regarding this and was informed that this model (hw-q90ZA) is made solely by Samsung while the HW-Q90R/ZA has been "tuned" by Harman Kardon and has some "slightly different [read: upgraded] components".

Q: QuestionWe just purchased this system. The surround sound speakers are barely audible during TV viewing unless it’s a movie that is compatible. We’ve tried boosting the rear surround sound speakers as much as we can for TV viewing but to no avail.
Asked by Stuart.
- A:Answer Stuart, I had the same issue with the Q-90. With the rear speaker volume set at +6 (Max) very little sound even when watching Dolby Atmos source. Also soundbar right up-firing speaker became distorted. Returned soundbar to BestBuy
Answered by Dave
Q: QuestionAre the rear speakers truly wireless or do they require a wireless module that the speakers plug into?
Asked by Pat.
- A:Answer The Back Speakers are Truly Wireless. No Module needed. Just a plug for Electric is it. Thank You for your question., Brian E.

Q: QuestionIf I have an old TV (~2008 Panasonic) with HDMI (but obviously not HMDI ARC), and do the following setup: ROKU Ultra --> Soundbar --> TV, will this setup work? So basically, just video going from soundbar to TV. Dolby Atmos still possible (from ROKU)?
Asked by fade6.
- A:Answer Yes it will work. This is the same setup I use with my UHD player so that better sound can be played even if the TV might not output Dolby Atmos.
