Lucien Pierre Cadene

Lucien Pierre Cadene (1887 - 1958) was active/lived in France.  Lucien Cadene is known for Florral still life, figure, genre and landscape painting, ink drawing.

Lucien Pierre Cadene was born in Montauban in Southwest France on August 28th 1897 and died there on July 11th 1958.

He was strongly influenced by Cézanne and Braque, began at a very early age decorating ceramics in the atelier of André Metthey working alongside such artists as Mary Cassatt, Auguste Renoir, Henri Matisse, Maurice de Vlaminck, and Kees Van Dongen ;Badly wounded in the First World War, he was awarded the Croix de Guerres and the Légion d'honneur, but lost his leg.

He continued painting and submitting his paintings to the Salon des Indépendents, but on the death of André Metthey, his mentor, he left paris, returned to Montauban and took up the post of Professor of art in Montauban, succeeding his former teacher there, Henri Marre.  Throughout his long career he painted portraits, landscapes and Still lifes. and gained a certain renown. Some of his works are in the museums of Tarbes and the Musée Ingres in Montauban.
