Biography

Born in 1961, Philippe Ramette lives and works in Paris. After having tried to paint, he destroyed all his paintings to become a sculptor. His photographs, which transpose into images the humour and strangeness of his sculptures, have brought him great notoriety. He has exhibited at many galleries, museums and events around the world: The Pompidou Centre, the City of Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon, the Musée d’art et d’histoire and MAMCO in Geneva, SMAK Museum in Ghent, the Sandretto Foundation in Turin, the City Art Centre in Edinburgh, Museum auf Abruf in Vienna, the Moscow House of Photography, Pera Museum in Istanbul, the Musée national des beaux-arts in Quebec City, the Toronto Photography Festival, the Aichi Triennial in Nagoya, the Watari Museum and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo, etc.
