This Ultra Tricolor Goniastrea Coralfrom Australia, is a brain coral also called by many a Favia coral. This one is an awesome color morph. The color's inject an impressive burst of color and attention to any reef aquarium. It's ringed pigmentation patterns along with the inner corallite wall contrasts with the center corallite color and the upper corallite ridge colors. The beautiful inner wall gives the coral a true ringed appearance. Corallite ridges are colored red while the inner corallite area is bright green. The red ridge coloration varies depending on the placement and lighting the coral receives. This red fluorescing pigment appears to be stimulated to fluoresce brighter with some green light illumination from LED's. The ridges appear more red under 10,000 to 14,000 K lighting.

Difficulty Easy

Aggressiveness This coral is semi-aggressive in temperament and will expand its sweeper tentacles at night well beyond the base. It is important to leave space between it and coral neighbours in the reef aquarium.

Water-flow Low-Medium water flow is best

Lighting This type of coral is very beautiful and under the right conditions it produces some amazing colors. In order to make the most of its coloration it needs to be under LED's or grown under Hybrid T5/LED combination. In order to keep this type of coral healthy you need to have a light that provides at least 3 watts per gallon of water.

Placement Low to Mid Level. When placing them in the aquarium give them plenty of room since they have very effective long sweeper tentacles that will sting neighbouring corals that are too close.

Diet and Feeding For continued good health, calcium, strontium, and other trace elements should be added to the water. At night their feeding tentacles extend on the inside edge of each polyp. If you feed them regularly with frozen PE Mysis, some marine snow and phytoplankton too they will reward you with fast growth.
