mine(32gb 3.0) is the new version thats made in malaysia and doesnt hv the blue activity led. ignore the gorrilatape and scratches, i found the shinygloss and redness abit distracting in the dark with the light/glare of my laptops monitor, and i hated how bulky and big it was so much compared to my 16gb m3.0 otg(which ive used for months now(but had for yrs lying in the closet) no issue...for those worried that the serialnumber of the m3.0 being smudged/faded since its printed on metal instead of plastic, i can say while my m3.0 looks pretty dirty, the serial is still very readable), i evn tried to breakapart the plastic casing with scissorsi can say perfwise on a usb2 port with 13gb used, it did abt 16-20mbps using win10 compactos, starting off fast at 20 but gradully going down to 18 and then 16, thts the only perf measurement i can give abt the glideevn after that workout the drive was only veryslightly warm compared to say the slightly warmer m3.0(which makes sense since its metal) or the awful burningstove that is the 16gb ultraflair that died on me(100% activity with 0 read/write being done and the partitions shows up with no space indicated in explorer.exe) and should be avoided...tbf i did use it as a win10 boot drivewht i will say is at1st using aomei partition assistant, and cloning my m3.0 win10bootdrive to the glide, with ssd alignment enabled(which wasnt aligned at all on the m3.0) for the copy to the glide, i 1st encountered a aomei error before any file transfering began(just during the format process by aomei)tht evn made the drive corrupted in explorer.exe(just like the flair abv but without the 100% and no read/writeactivity), but a reformat fixed that, and oddly i got the same aomeierror the 1st time after the cloning/filetransfer was done and finalising(aomei expending the partition to cover the full 28.6gb of the glide)...perhaps i accidentally jiggled it abit too much, i was real worried but doing it a 2nd time worked no issue and now ive been booting win10 frm the glide instead of the m3.0 for a week now noissue( i will say tht doing the same disk clone frm 1 16gb m3.0 drive to another 16gb m3.0 drive, but as i said without the ssd alignment, i nvr encountered such issues...before anyone thinks i couldnt be more happy with the m3.0, i will say on the m3.0, chromium edge browser install/updates were cripplingly slow, like im worried i corrupted/bricked the drive levels of slow....always worked out in the end if u hv enough space though...but boy was i really coming close to running out of space...which combined with the almost comatose speeds/lackofactivity, almost gave me a panic attack)...i should qualify tht statement by saying i just put my laptop to sleep instead of shutdown/fullboot, and tht i hv a hdd which holds almost all my daily programs(i could nvr survive on the 14.3gb of my m3.0 otherwise!) and tht i evn did mklink so that my edge browser cache is stored there instead of the usb(perhaps if i did tht my ultraflair wouldnt hv died..for abit longer), so im just saying tht apart frm tht compactos workout(i didnt measure how long it took but it didnt feel long..5-10min?), i really hvnt done much writing or evn reading activity off the glide, i evn did the compress this drive to save space thing on the m3.0 before i did the aomei diskclone(and btw i only did mklink not tht long ago, way after i enabled ntfs compression, so im pretty confident on the reliablity of the 16gb m3.0). btw with ntfs compression and compactos, i got my c drive/the glide down to 10gb, evn with a few programs installed/files store on the glide, ive noticed no perf issue at all frm all tht compression so far, evn on a old i5 sandy laptop, so i recommend most people(nongamers etc) do that
