Batteries have to be changed fairly often, so this is a recurring problem. Mine is not useable now since the batteries need replacing but I'm unable to open the compartment to change them. It's a shame, because other than that it's a great product but it's a shame this issue hasn't been addressed in at least 4 years since I had the same problem with my original one.
Some numbers are hard to differentiate, like 1 and 7, also the quadrants are hard to tell where they start and end. But the biggest problem is the batteries that don't seem to last more than a few days, though I play all day long at work. My solution and advice to you is get rechargeable batteries. It will be cheaper to get the rechargeable batteries and charger than keep on buying AAA batteries.
When you start having trouble seeing the screen it's probably time to change batteries.
I was actually using the game on my phone but I kept on using to much data.
