Product Description

Product description

both strider 1 and 2

Amazon.com

Strider first slashed his way into American homes in the '80s, with his self-titled release for the classic NES. After a subsequent appearance on the Genesis, Strider Hiryu disappeared from game consoles--until now. Strider is back in a truly old-school action game that will please fans of 2-D classics.

Upon first play, Strider 2 may seem like a mindless slashorama, with enemies coming at players from all sides. But there's more to Strider than brainless brutality. Hiryu can also jump, double jump, kick off of walls, slide, and cling to almost everything, which makes it possible to avoid most foes, with practice.

For better or worse, Capcom makes it easy for players to blow through this game by way of unlimited continues that let Strider start from the very point where he died. Luckily, players are graded at the end of each level, giving at least some incentive to perform well. --Robb Guido

Pros:

  • Vivid graphics and huge bosses
  • Old-school action that requires players to learn the movements of enemies Cons:
    • Players can essentially cheat their way through the game because of unlimited continues

Strider 2 - Circa 2000

GOOD:

- Good/Tight controls

- Fast and fun gameplay

- Comes packed with original Strider

BAD:

- Pretty dated graphics even for when it was released

- Few levels make a short game

WILL IT FIT YOUR TASTE:

- 2D side-scroller, with liner levels, but backgrounds are 3D

- Straightforward classic arcade gameplay

GAME ITS MOST ASSOCATED TOO:

- Strider

- Mega Man X4 (playing as Zero and not Mega Man)

- Castlevaina: symphony of the night

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

- Most levels are more like remakes of the classic Strider levels

- Unlock Strider nemesis (the other or "bad" Strider) after beating the game

Even though in the USA been mislabeled Strider 1 and 2 as each other they're both awesome games! But this one with the blue label In America which is Strider 2 is just amazing. Such a fun game.

Strider 1 was okay, but Strider 2 is what really brought it together! Gameplay and controls are marvelous, story is kinda funky, but the fast-pased action is all there!

The original Strider for Genesis was what made me buy that system, and this game has all the magic of that one! The only thing keeping it from being a five is that in this age of videogames the length should be a lot longer! But if you are a Strider fan (or a fan of great videogames) you should buy this one! HIGHLY RECOMENDED!

It's about time Strider came back and I'm glad to see Capcom put some effort into this one. The control is dead-on and the graphics are great. If you wanna be cheap and use as many continues as you can, you'll beat it in half an hour. If you limit your continues, however, you'll find that this game is much harder to master. Buy it.

This felt more like a reboot of the first Strider, a-la' Evil Dead 1 and 2. It was a brief and enjoyable sidescroller game. You are a super future ninja with a plasma sword and you are trying to destroy the one world government that controls the earth, from the moon, or something. I didn't know that Glenn Beck wrote fan fiction for the Anime and video game sectors. Oh well. Nobody plays these sort of games for their story. What people do play these for is tight controls, eye watering graphics and well orchestrated platform action sequences. The sound was alright but there wasn't too many soundtracks. I bought this when it was rereleased and it even came with Strider 1 as a bonus. I certainly got my $20 worth out of this title. Its a good pick up and play title that is fun for the whole family. Wait, its selling for how much used?! Ok, well, my review still stands. Pick this title up if you are a lottery winner.

Just wanna say that the game is High speed. Lightning fast attacks and awesome 2-D/3-D graphics(Like Kirby 64) make this a pretty entertaining game. However, I feel that capcom wasn't really paying attention to detail when it released the game on the wrong disc. Strider 1 is on the strider 2 disc and vice-versa. Thats about the only beef I got with this game. Good game!

The game is a great run and fun action arcade style. I missed it when it came out originally, but glad I could pick it up now and it was definitely worth it-albeit a short game.
