    Stakes are High

    Cipher makes Colosseum's Team Snagem look like a bunch of two-bit amateurs. This is made immediately clear during the game's opening sequence, when you witness Cipher's Shadow Lugia effortlessly pluck a massive cargo ship straight out of the ocean.

    Known as XD001, Shadow Lugia is Cipher's ultimate Shadow Pokemon. Cipher's goal is to create more Pokemon like Shadow Lugia to assist in their plot for world domination.

    Shadow Pokemon

    Like Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon XD features Shadow Pokemon that have been corrupted by evil Trainers. Shadow Pokemon can execute powerful Shadow moves, but they are unpredictable and will sometimes disobey commands.

    Michael uses an Aura Reader to identify Shadow Pokemon, and a newly-designed Snag Machine is used to swipe them from unsuspecting evil-doers. When you face a Shadow Pokemon, Michael's Aura Reader is activated and the Shadow Pokemon is identified. Weaken the opposing Shadow Pokemon, then use the Snag Machine to attempt to rescue it.

    Purify Chamber

    Shadow Pokemon must be purified before the doors to their hearts can be completely opened. Purification can be accomplished by keeping Shadow Pokemon in your party, or you can visit the all-new Purify Chamber to purify multiple Shadow Pokemon more quickly.

    To use the Purify Chamber, you must first select a Pokemon to purify and place it in the center of one of nine "sets." Next, you place regular Pokemon around the Shadow Pokemon to aid in the purification process. The process will go more or less quickly depending on the number and types of the regular Pokemon you select.

    Using the Purify Chamber, it's possible to quickly purify up to nine Shadow Pokemon simultaneously. This is a very handy tool, but you'll have to build up a collection of purified Pokemon before you can take full advantage of the Purify Chamber.

    Eevee

    You'll begin Pokemon XD with Eevee as your companion. Early in your adventure, you'll meet a sailor who will offer to give you one of five items which aid in Eevee's evolution. Depending on which item you choose, Eevee can evolve into Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, or Umbreon. Choose wisely!

    VS. Mode

    In addition to the incredibly deep RPG portion of the game, Pokemon XD also features an awesome VS. Mode that allows you to participate in intense 3D Pokemon battles.

    Using a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable, you can import your favorite Pokemon from Game Boy Advance Pokemon games to battle in full 3D. Two or four players can tweak a variety of options to create the ultimate Pokemon battle!

This is a great Pokémon game in a darker era set up. It centers on shadow Pokemon, Pokemon who've had their hearts sealed away and now use Dark Skills to attack you and your Pokemon friends! It’s an adventure for any Pokémon fan! The game disk came a little dirty, but after I cleaned it, it worked perfect!

This game, honestly is so much fun. I actually really do like the graphics and adventure even writing about it makes me want to play it now. It's one of those games where you can stop playing,for months or even years and come back when your bored and it would still be just as fun. I suppose I should elaborate but I bought this game 2 years ago and about to play it over the weekend so my memory is a little bit foggy. If you have always been a fan of pokemon I am really sure you will love this game.. It's addicting and easy to figure out. The game also has its own cute little humor and charm. although I will admit its not the same as the first one. I will always love that game more. But please give it a try.

I purchased this game from Amazon close to 10 years ago for around $30 and it was great. Everything arrived fine and worked on my Gamecube just like it should. XD Gale of Darkness and Colosseum, to this day, stand out to me as some of the best Pokemon games to ever come out.

Now as much as I love this game, I noticed the $299 price tag on it and my heart sank. I would definitely attempt to look for this game at retro game stores or even deep in bargain bins. If all else fails and the game can't be found anywhere, only then would I start budgeting to buy this. If you have the money and just want to own the game sooner rather than later, then by all means.

I got the disc in today and there are tiger prints all over it and few scratches along the inner ring and a couple on the outside. I tried cleaning it with alcohol and a little bit of dawn dish soap and did not rub it in just let it sit and then used hot water and it did nothing. These are imprinted to the disc

I like the GC Pokemon games and I think they get a bad rap. Double battles really aren't that bad, however with the way this game is paced, you'll probably only have 2 purified Pokemon on you and like 4 shadows. Purifying the shadows is made 9x easier as they give you a system to work on them outside of battle along with making the heart gauge easier to lower in battle. They also doubled the amount of shadows so you have plenty of options, this time sticking with mostly Kanto choices. They expanded on the shadow Pokemon themselves giving them more diverse attacks rather than just the one. The intro is kind of rough as it's super dialogue heavy and all the characters are incredibly unlikeable. After you find your groove though it's nice and fun and you'll get loaded with a lot of shadows at once so save often (which now you can do by pausing) and even if you mess up it's still super easy to get a second chance to catch that shadow second time. It does a lot of things right but has awful characters and hard fights. It's a love hate relationship with me and this game.
