MOLTO bene.
There are no native USB ports on my current machine (and on most modern laptops), and I have to use a USB to USB-C hub to connect the key. I contacted Kingston tech support as there is a software update that can be downloaded to solve issue #1. I was able to do this with ease, and hoped that it would fix things. However the system keeps crashing within seconds of launching... every time. When I brought this up with tech support, they sent the same copy-paste answer twice in a row stating that I needed a native USB port (which did not help) and then ghosted me.
I tried it on my partner's surface pro, also using the USB to USB-C port and it was working well. I was able to configure it with my password. So I don't think my hub was the issue. But I tried it again more recently (same hub and same machine) and it won't even launch anymore on the surface pro.
The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is that if I manage to VERY quickly enter my password before the login interface crashes, I am actually able to access the data and can use it as a normal key. But this requires a good 5-10 mins of launching and re-launching the application. And with the recent glitches on the surface pro, I am not confident that I can access my data reliably.
I have lost faith in this device that is supposed to be keeping my most sensitive information secure. I bought a different brand of encrypted USB key (Verbatim) which has worked like a charm on my current operating system and has had no issues when using a USB to USB-C hub. It was also half the price for 32 GB of storage. I will keep the Kingston key as a data backup but wow, this has been a frustrating experience. I cannot use this on a regular basis, and I cannot recommend this product or this company to anyone.
