Don't buy from this seller. First, this thumb drive arrived with a sticky jelly-like substance on the package. Second, the thumb drive appeared to be facing backwards in the package, although the package never appeared to have been opened. Third and worst, the launcher app on it used old 32-bit technology and would not work with my newer Mac, which uses 64-bit. I got an error message telling me to contact the app developer. The files on the thumb drive were last modified in 2015! They sold me an 8 year old thumb drive! Needless to say, I returned it.

Product was announced with an encrypting option which is not available. USB Key did not do what it was advertised to do. I had to purchase another key with another vendor and wasted money on this one.

MOLTO bene.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very glitchy software, ghosted by customer support. Do not buy unless you have native USB ports.
Reviewed in Canada on January 6, 2023
Bought this as a recommended encrypted USB key for work. Using it has been problematic from start to finish. The application repeatedly crashes when I try to launch it. I work on a 2020 Macbook Pro running macOS Monterey 12.6. There are two compatibility issues here: 1) the key is not compatible with newer versions of macOS and 2) the key requires native USB ports to function properly.

There are no native USB ports on my current machine (and on most modern laptops), and I have to use a USB to USB-C hub to connect the key. I contacted Kingston tech support as there is a software update that can be downloaded to solve issue #1. I was able to do this with ease, and hoped that it would fix things. However the system keeps crashing within seconds of launching... every time. When I brought this up with tech support, they sent the same copy-paste answer twice in a row stating that I needed a native USB port (which did not help) and then ghosted me.

I tried it on my partner's surface pro, also using the USB to USB-C port and it was working well. I was able to configure it with my password. So I don't think my hub was the issue. But I tried it again more recently (same hub and same machine) and it won't even launch anymore on the surface pro.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is that if I manage to VERY quickly enter my password before the login interface crashes, I am actually able to access the data and can use it as a normal key. But this requires a good 5-10 mins of launching and re-launching the application. And with the recent glitches on the surface pro, I am not confident that I can access my data reliably.

I have lost faith in this device that is supposed to be keeping my most sensitive information secure. I bought a different brand of encrypted USB key (Verbatim) which has worked like a charm on my current operating system and has had no issues when using a USB to USB-C hub. It was also half the price for 32 GB of storage. I will keep the Kingston key as a data backup but wow, this has been a frustrating experience. I cannot use this on a regular basis, and I cannot recommend this product or this company to anyone.
