Wonderful and concise biography of the great pianist, composer , Chopin.
Read in just 1hour and a half. I cried at the end.

Very well written a short review of the artist's life and possibly helpful for those music lovers of classical music who don't know much about Chopin. I enjoy playing his pieces, particularly Nocturnes and waltzes and will now imagine the artist putting them down on paper for the rest of the world to enjoy the glorious expressions of the genius. Sometimes I can sense the pain and longings of an expatriate like I have been myself.

This is a well constructed biography of Chopin unlike any other I've read. Accuracy of facts mixed with perhaps some literary license makes this book both informative and captivating. I would recommend this book to any reader with even a passing interest of one of music's legends.

The life of Frederic Chopin from early childhood to his death. He was born in Poland, on March 1, 1810, his father was French and his mother Polish. His birth name was Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin. He had an older sister and two younger sisters. Both Mr and Ms Chopin was very musically inclined and taught young Frederic the joys of music at an early age. They also sent him to a musical school at an early age.

At age seven he was performing his own concerts. Shortly after he was writing his own music, Chopin became a rising star. He took Paris by storm with his music. He never gave up and always worked hard.

This is a short read, it completely covers Chopin's whole life, famiily, friends, and his love for music. The book also cover his emigration to Paris with the famous George Sand, his sickness and early death at age 39. I enjoyed reading this musical biography of such a marvelous person.

I purchased this as a gift for my Aunt, but I didn’t read the description fully, and I was expecting a book. This is a very thin paperback with large print, so if you’re expecting a good book to delve into, this isn’t is. I read it in 30 minutes, and I’m not a speed reader.

It is truly sad that three of the greatest composers of all time suffered through out their lives despite the success of their works. All died young of illness that medical science of the time could not treat or reverse. If they had been able to continue on another 30 years or more, there is no telling what they would have accomplished. I guess God does work in mysterious ways for good or bad.

For a quick read and bio-glimpse, this one hits the mark. The stories of Chopin's various struggles are made clear, and you will come away feeling as if you know much more about the man whose pieces you have heard or played many times. As a musician, I would have appreciated more detail about his pieces and the stories of how they were made. There is, in fact some of that in this book, but I think a bit more might have been possible, even within the constraints of the concise format. Quite a worthwhile read!

I enjoyed the author’s description of chopin’s young life and into adulthood. He was humanized as a kind, shy, and thoughtful gentle genius.
