Top review from the United States

Ecco: The Tides of Time is one of the most memorable games for the Sega Genesis. As anyone who has played the game will tell you, it is also one of the most difficult. A strategy guide for this game was inevitable, though I did not learn of its existence until I was an adult, decades after I had played and (arduously) beaten the game. So what does the hindsight of 21 years have to say about this guide?

That it's good. Damn good, even. This strategy guide covers not just the basic Sega Genesis game, but also the Sega CD port (which was basically the Genesis game with better music and some FMV bells and whistles) as well as the scaled-down Game Gear version of the game. It's in all color (industry standard today, but back in the 90s publishers were much more likely to cut corners on the color to save money). It's comprehensive, covering all the levels (certain levels are only available on certain difficulties, and this guide doesn't miss a one) as well as the passwords and even including Game Genie codes just to show the reader they'd really gone the extra mile for this one. The Game Gear guide is a bit abbreviated, but that reflects on the abbreviated nature of the game itself more than it does this guide.

A very solid product by BradyGames, all in all. This guide holds up very well for its age and is highly recommended for fans of this classic Sega franchise.
