Empress Sunmyeong of the Korean Empire (20 November 1872 – 20 July 1907) was the consort of Emperor Yunghui, the last emperor of the Joseon Dynasty and Korea. Sunjong, the Emperor Yunghui (1874-1926), was the second son of Emperor Gojong and served as the second (and last) Emperor of Korea of the Yi dynasty. His reign would only last from 1907 until 1910, when he was forced to abdicate by Japan, and lived for the rest of his life virtually imprisoned in his palace.
