Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumour (IMT) or ‘pseudotumour’ of the kidney is a uncommon benign tumour, common in young adults with unknown etiology. Clinical feature and radiological investigations are usually inconclusive. Often, biopsy is inconclusive required a management similar to that of Renal Cell Cancer (RCC). Diagnosis is based on immunohistochemistry. We are reporting a case of IMT in a 32-year-old female patient who presented with left flank pain and haematuria which on evaluation was suggestive of left renal cell carcinoma. IMT was confermed by Surgery, histopathological examination and Immunohistochemistry. Bangladesh J. Urol. 2021; 24(1): 112-115

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour of bladder: A case reportInflammatory myofibroblastic tumour (IMT) is a rare tumour with an unknown malignant potential. IMTs are known to occur in many sites. These tumours very rarely noted in bladder. It is important to distinguish this tumor from other malignant spindle cell tumors, such as the sarcomatoid variant of urothelial carcinoma and leiomyosarcoma. This distinction has clinical consequences because IMT is generally considered benign and treated with conservative management. Here we report a case of IMT in bladder in a 23 years old female who presented with a lower abdominal mass and abdominal pain. Histopathology revealed that muscularis propria of the bladder, was widely infiltrated by loosely arranged plump spindle shaped cells and immunohistochemistry was positive for both SMA (smooth muscle actin) and ALK1 (Anaplastic lymphoma kinase 1). So we present this case for its rarity and diagnostic uncertainty.
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare neoplasm with unknown malignant potential that has been described in most organ systems. We herein present a case of a young female who presented with macroscopic hematuria. An IMT of the urinary bladder which was not suspected after clinical, radiological and surgical work-up was diagnosed microscopically and confirmed by immunohistochemistry. A close clinical follow-up is recommended because of the unknown biological behavior of this tumor. A brief review of literature is also presented here.

Retroperitoneal Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor: A Rare Case Report and Literature Review2016 •
2008 •
Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor (IMT) is the recent name of Inflammatory pseudotumor which was in intermediate group of fibrous-origin tumor. The authors retrospectively reviewed such cases in Ramathibodi Hospital from January 2001 to December 2005. There were 115 cases of fibrous-origin tumor, which was IMT in 17 cases. Nine cases occurred in the abdomen and only 3 of these had complete computerized tomographic (CT) imaging. One was hypodense liver mass with thick rim enhancement. Another one in the liver presented as a liver abscess which appeared as multiloculated hypodense mass with enhanced septum. The third case was a large malignant-looking retroperitoneal mass and having a small accompanying hepatic lesion which rapidly grew in the follow up study at nine months. IMT in the abdomen was scanty. The diagnosis was done with difficulty because of different signs and symptoms such as fever and palpable abdominal mass. The laboratory findings were nonspecific or within normal l...

Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor: A Rare Presentation and an Effective Treatment with CrizotinibInflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare entity of neoplastic origin. It usually occurs in children and adolescents and most commonly involves pulmonary and gastrointestinal sites. Here, the authors present two cases; one is the nine months old boy with a subcutaneous IMT in the left temporal region that was treated successfully with surgical resection. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of a subcutaneous IMT in this particular region. The second is an eight years old girl with an IMT of the right hemi-pelvis. The mass had complete surgical excision with clear margins and no residual disease. She was kept on regular follow-up with ultrasound abdomen. However, her disease relapsed with the appearance of lesions in right iliac fossa, right ovary, and liver. Biopsy of the relapsed abdominal mass confirmed ALK-positive IMT. She was treated with ALK inhibitor Crizotinib. She was monitored with regular blood complete picture, hepatic and renal function...
