Auto-lithographed from the originals at Castle Howard, Yorkshire.Crayon lithograph with toned background on vellin paper.Sheet size: 33 x 42,7 cm. Image size: 27,3 x 34,6 cm. From: 'Three Hundred French Portraits representing Personages of the Courts of Francis I , Henry II , and Francis II , by Clouet', by Lord Ronald Gower, after the originals when they were at Castle Howard, Yorkshire. Published in London 1875. First edition.Made by Lord Ronald Gower after Francois Clouet. Lord Ronald Charles Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (2 August 1845 9 March 1916), known as Lord Ronald Gower, was a Scottish Liberal politician, sculptor and writer from the Leveson-Gower family. Francois Clouet (c. 1510-1572), son of Jean Clouet, was a French Renaissance miniaturist and painter, particularly known for his detailed portraits of the French ruling family.
