Sandefjordmuseene, also known as Hvalfangstmuseet, is a unique museum located in Sandefjord, Norway. It is the only museum in Europe that is dedicated to the whaling industry. This specialization makes it a unique destination for those interested in learning about whales and the history of whaling.
One of the highlights of the Sandefjord Whaling Museum is a full-size recreation of a 21-meter Blue whale. This impressive exhibit hangs from the ceiling in one of the museum's galleries, providing a unique perspective on the size and majesty of these incredible creatures.
The Southern Actor, a part of the Sandefjord Whaling Museum, is based on the Museum's Wharf. It is the only whale-catcher from the Modern Whaling Epoch that is still in its original working order. This provides a unique opportunity for visitors to see a piece of whaling history in its original form.
