Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio (born November 11, 1974) is an American actor and film producer whose movies have grossed over $7.2 billion worldwide. After early television roles on "Growing Pains" and "Parenthood," DiCaprio made his film acting debut in "This Boy's Life" (1993). His performance in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (1993) served as an acting breakthrough, as DiCaprio earned his first Academy Award nomination.

He became a global teen idol with back-to-back romance movies "Romeo + Juliet" (1996) and "Titanic" (1997), the latter of which was the highest-grossing movie in history for over a decade. DiCaprio went from teen heartthrob to serious dramatic actor in 2002 with starring roles in Steven Spielberg's "Catch Me If You Can" and Martin Scorsese's "Gangs of New York." The latter kickstarted a relationship with Scorsese that has come to define DiCaprio's career. The duo have made six movies together: "Gangs," "The Aviator" (2004), "The Departed" (2004), "Shutter Island" (2010) "The Wolf of Wall Street" (2013) and "Killers of the Flower Moon" (2023). DiCaprio has earned six Academy Award nominations, and he won the best actor prize for his role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's "The Revenant" (2015). His other major films include Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" (2013), Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" (2012) and "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" (2019) and Christopher Nolan's "Inception" (2010). DiCaprio also has his own production company, Appian Way Productions, and is the founder of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting environmental awareness.
