Henry Cavill (Actor)

Henry Cavill is a British actor best known for playing Superman in the DC Extended Universe from 2013 to 2022. His other notable roles include Charles Brandon in Showtime’s “The Tudors” (2007-2010), Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s “Enola Holmes” and its sequel (2020-2022) and Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s “The Witcher” (2019-2023). Born on May 5, 1983 in Saint Helier, Jersey in the Channel Islands, Cavill grew up participating in sports as well as theater. In 2001, he began his film career with “Laguna” in 2001, followed by the role of Albert Mondego in Kevin Reynolds’ 2002 adaptation of “The Count of Monte Cristo.” His first leading role came with Showtime’s “The Tudors,” which went on to win an Emmy in 2008.

In 2011, it was announced that Cavill had been cast as Clark Kent/Superman in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel.“He went on to reprise the role in 2016’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” 2017’s “Justice League,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” in 2021 and made a cameo in 2022’s “Black Adam.” In December 2022, Cavill announced that he would no longer be playing Superman after James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as the new heads of DC Studios. His role in “The Witcher” is also set to be taken over by Liam Hemsworth after Cavill exited the series. As Cavill embarks on a new chapter in his career, he is slated to star in Matthew Vaughn’s spy film “Argylle” and Guy Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”
