Tyrese Gibson is the latest actor returning to the “Transformers” franchise.

Gibson will be reprising his role as Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Robert Epps in “Transformers: The Last Knight.” The actor annouced the news on Instagram, where he posted several photos with director Michael Bay captioned “Robert Epps is back! #T5 Summer 2017 just got even more interesting,” as well as a video.

Production is already underway in Cuba for “Transformers: The Last Knight,” which hits theaters on June 23, 2017. “Transformers 6” has been slotted for June 8, 2018, while “Transformers 7” is scheduled for June 28, 2019.

Gibson appeared in the first three “Transformers” films, but skipped the last installment, 2014’s “Age of Extinction.” Mark Wahlberg is also back as Cade Yeager and Josh Duhamel returns as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox. Anthony Hopkins, newcomer Isabela Moner, Jerrod Carmichael and Laura Haddock have joined the cast as well.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce “Transformers: The Last Knight” with Hasbro.

Bay has directed the four movies in the Paramount franchise — based on Hasbro’s popular toy line — which grossed a collective $3.8 billion worldwide.

Gibson can next be seen in another long-running franchise: “Fast 8.” The film debuts on April 14, 2017, just a few weeks before “Transformers 5.”
